I took to the stage straight after chief nurse, Natasha Phillips. She was exceptional – a true professional and flawless public speaker with a real passion and love for the NHS… and I wasn’t too shabby either!
“Rachel delivered a keynote speech and ran a breakout room at our Digital Conference. She spoke with experience, humour an insight on leading change within the public sector”
— Mel Briers, Digital Nurse Specialist, Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust
Diarmaid Crean who is CDO at the Trust, asked me to go in and talk about driving change in the NHS. I’d known Diarmaid for some time as we worked together when I was at NHS Digital. This talk was about the NHS app, building the home testing service, and emphasising that new approach we took and how we devised that new strategy, needing complete buy-in on an organisational level to implement. It was a great gig on a nice sunny day and I couldn’t have asked for more! The Q&A session had some of the trickiest questions I’ve been asked live on stage for a while – kudos to the nurses for keeping me on my toes!
